A community in the North East of Wales has a hotel that is 1,375 feet underground, allegedly the deepest hotel in the world, despite the fact that traveling underground might not seem like the best decision in light of the recent submersible accident. In a defunct slate mine beneath the Snowdonia mountains in Gwynedd, a hotel by the name of “Deep Sleep” has been constructed.

Low-voltage batteries (often 12 volts) power all-electric illumination. Temperatures down there can fall as low as 10 degrees Celsius, so it can get chilly. So that there is some semblance of warmth even when the outsides of the cabins get quite chilly, the cabins are thermally insulated with heavy insulation.

Deep Sleep features a grotto, and four cottages, and operates once every week. For $445 (£350), two people can sleep in a cabin, and for $699 (£550), two people can sleep in a grotto.

Although there is Wi-Fi for visitors, which is given through a 1kilometer long Ethernet connection from a 4G antenna on the surface, there is definitely no mobile phone reception about 420 meters below the surface of the Earth.
